Speedway:Aces Complete There 2007 Line Up - 16-01-2007
BELLE Vue have signed a Pole, a Finn and an American to complete their side for the 2007 season which opens on March 19.
Adam Skornicki, 30-year-old former Wolverhampton and Oxford rider, drove over from Poland for his signing to be revealed during a packed fan forum at the stadium last night.
Kaj Laukkanen, 31, will return from Finland for his third spell with the Aces after riding for the club between 1999 and 2002 and again in 2004.
And Ryan Fisher, a 23-year-old Californian, is coming back to British speedway after a two-year absence following spells at Coventry and Oxford.
They join skipper Joe Screen, Simon Stead, Aussie signing Kevin Doolan and James Wright in a new-look side which includes only three members of last year's side.
Aces promoter Chris Morton said: “Adam was thrilled to join us, not just because he wanted to stay in the Elite League but because he wanted to ride at Belle Vue. That's the kind of rider we have been looking for.
“I could tell from our conversations that he wanted to come here. I have kept tabs on him every since Wolverhampton told me he might become available and I am happy to have landed a flamboyant crowd pleaser who has great enthusiasm for his racing.
“Adam has the priceless advantage of having been over here for a few years so he knows all the tracks and that is so important.”
Skornicki said: “I really like small tracks like Belle Vue so I'll be very happy to ride here next season.
“Belle Vue are a big club who have had a lot of World champions over the years and it is a great thing for me to ride for a club with such a history.”
Laukkanen, like Skornicki, comes in on a five-point average but Morton added: “There is no doubt he can improve on that figure. Team manager Eric Boocock and myself will be working with him and Skornicki to lift their figures.
“Both of them are very skilled motor cyclists and Laukkanen is second reserve for next season's Grand Prix so that speaks for itself.”
Boocock, who has handled the negotiations with Fisher, said: “I've told him that if he wants to come to Belle Vue and build himself a future, we will give him all the help in the world.
“We are giving him a big chance and, from the conversations we've had, he is desperate to take it, both for his sake and Belle Vue's sake.”
