TT speeds 'will go beyond 130mph' - 31-05-2007
Lap record holder John McGuinness believes the 130mph average speed barrier will be broken at the Isle of Man RR for the first time this year.
McGuinness, who holds the record on the demanding 37.73-mile mountain course at record at 129.451mph, set the pace in in Thursday night's Superbike practice.
"If the conditions are good, the 130mph lap will be broken," said McGuinness, who believes he is the man to do it.
"It is going to happen and I will just be concentrating on enjoying it."
McGuinness lapped at 129.08mph on Thursday, with Guy Martin second on 128.16, Ian Lougher next at 128.14 then Ian Hutchinson and Martin Finnegan.
McGuinness said: "There is pressure but once you put your helmet on it is me, the bike and the road - and it will take a good man to beat me."
John McGuinness claimed three wins at last year's TT
The HM Plant Honda rider Bruce Anstey topped the Superstocks at 125.12 followed by McGuinness on 124.29 and Dubliner Finnegan at 124.28.
Anstey also led the Supersports on 122.62 with Martin and Ryan Farquhar also bettering the 122mph mark.
The final practice session takes place on Friday evening with the first race on Saturday.
The TT - contested over public roads - is regarded as the most dangerous event left in motorsport today.
